Description
With millions of Americans routinely suffering with chronic aches and pains, the most popular treatment approach is taking an over the counter or prescription strength medication. I was recently discussing this issue with a person in the internet. And his response was - why should I use a chiropractor or try massage therapy or acupuncture when I can just take Ibuprofen? It is so much cheaper. Besides, I don't have any problems with taking the drugs, and if I ever do develop the problems I'll stop.
There's a pretty significant flaw with that guy's thinking. The problem is - why wait until you've got irreparable damage to your body before you think twice about taking medicines? Why wait until you've trashed your stomach, your liver and your kidneys before the light bulb goes off over your head and you wise up to the realization that long term reliance of these pain medications and NSAID's is bad news? It reminds me of the guy who smokes cigarettes for 40 years and then is shocked and befuddled when he develops lung cancer. "I didn't know cigarettes were bad for me!"
